California truck accident damages 16 vehicles

As drivers in California have likely realized, there are many large semi-trucks and commercial motor vehicles sharing the roadways. These large vehicles have the potential to present dangers to other drivers on the road. These dangers are present due to the large size of the vehicles. along with the often hazardous nature of the materials they are carrying.

These risk factors, when paired with the busy streets of California, make it essential for truck drivers to exercise as much caution as possible when operating these vehicles. If a truck driver is not careful, he or she could cause a truck accident that could result in serious harm or severe injury to other innocent bystanders or drivers. An 18-wheeler accident that recently occurred in Los Angeles could have caused these very types of injuries.

The accident occurred on a Saturday when a big rig that was carrying Bounty paper products drove off the freeway for unknown reasons and crashed into various vehicles that were sitting in a CarMax lot. When the semi entered the parking lot, it set about 10 vehicles on fire and damaged a total of 16 cars.

The driver of the semi was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment of his injuries. Accident reports do not currently state whether the collision caused injuries to any other individuals. However, situations such as this one have the potential to cause very serious injuries to anyone that is involved. If that is the case and someone is injured in a truck accident, it is possible that they would be entitled to the recovery of compensation for their injuries.

Truck drivers are held to a heightened standard of care as compared to other drivers on the road. If an accident investigation proves that the driver did not meet this minimum standard of care, then the driver may have been negligent and, in that case, any other injured party may be able to recover compensation for the financial obligations that arise a result of the injuries they sustained in the truck accident.
