How significant is the danger from car accidents?

Have you ever wondered just how common car accidents and car accident fatalities are? In 2012, there were 30,080 fatal car accidents in the U.S. There were a total of 33,651 fatalities caused by car accidents in the U.S. in 2012. The national car accident fatality rate totaled 10.7 deaths for 100,000 individuals. Additionally, car accident mortality varied by state.

In California, there were 2,632 fatal car accidents during 2012 and a total of 2,857 victims were killed in fatal car accidents in California during 2012. Car accidents can devastate families whether it is through debilitating injuries, permanent disability or the loss of a loved one. It is important for victims of car accidents, and families of victims of car accidents, to know that there are legal options available to help with the suffering they experience which may be physical, emotional and financial.

A personal injury claim for damages may provide victims and their families with compensation for the damages they have suffered. Depending on the circumstances, damages that may be awarded can include medical and funeral expenses; lost wages and lost-earning capacity; loss of support and services; lost prospect of inheritance; loss of companionship; and pain and suffering damages.

Though car accidents may, unfortunately, be somewhat common, each family impacted by a car accident may suffer significant and extensive harm. Victims who have suffered harm in a car accident negligently caused by another driver's carelessness may wish to familiarize themselves with the personal injury claim process and ways it protects victims. Victims of car accidents may have a variety of worries which is why the legal process seeks to help ease the burdens of victims in whatever ways it is able.
