Head-on crash on mountain road kills 2 and injures 6

The numerous freeways in the Los Angeles area are frequently the scene of violent and destructive auto accidents. Occasionally, however, the winding roads in the mountains that ring the Los Angeles basin can also become the scene of serious accidents. A recent three-car accident on La Tuna Canyon Road provides a sad reminder of the consequences of poor judgment mixed with high speed.

The importance of not driving distracted

Distracted driving is a concern everywhere, including in California and the Los Angeles area. Distracted driving is also a serious problem with a reported 80 percent of car accidents involving some type of driver distraction. Distracted driving-related car accidents cause up to 3,000 deaths each year. While talking on a cell phone or texting while driving are at the top of the list of distracted driving behaviors, a variety of additional activities drivers engage in are also considered distracted driving.

Drunk driver flees police, crashes and injures 10

Most Californians probably think of a violation of the state's drunk driving laws in terms of suspended drivers' licenses, fines and jail terms; however, they may not understand the threat posed by drunk drivers to others. A recent car accident in West Covina demonstrates the extent in which a drunk driver can cause injury to many people, including the drunk driver himself.
