Ideally, everyone traveling the roads of Alhambra would exercise the appropriate amount of care and do everything possible to prevent a collision with another vehicle or a pedestrian. Unfortunately, that is not the case, because numerous negligent drivers travel the roads every day. In fact, each year 2.5 million people are affected by a car accident caused by those very negligent drivers.
When an individual becomes the victim of a car collision involving a negligent party, the resulting impacts can range from minor injuries requiring minimal medical attention and possibly some therapy, to severe injuries that ultimately result in the death of one or more victims. An accident that occurred recently on Balcom Canyon Road in California not only resulted in some minor injuries but also unfortunately resulted in the death of one party.
The accident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. on a weeknight. One woman was driving her vehicle northbound and another was driving westbound. They were both approaching an intersection. The westbound driver entered the intersection in front of the northbound vehicle. This ultimately led to the crash, as the northbound vehicle was unable to correct her course and struck the other vehicle on the driver’s side door.
The westbound driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. A passenger in that vehicle and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to a local medical facility for treatment of minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation, so it is unclear at this point who police consider to be at fault for the accident.
When a driver’s negligence causes an accident, injured parties may be able to recover compensation by filing a personal injury lawsuit. The damages they recover from the negligent party will help them cover the expenses that arise as a result of the accident. If one person dies as a result of another’s negligence, the family and loved ones of the deceased can still recover damages for pain and suffering as well as unexpected financial obligations.
It is always important that all parties receive the compensation to which they are entitled, but the compensatory damages are especially helpful in a situation involving serious injury or death.
