Fatal motorcycle crash claims one in Los Feliz

Riding a motorcycle in Los Angeles' beautiful warm weather is supposed to be fun and relaxing. For others, it may be their only mode of transportation. Either way, motorcyclists are to be treated as any other motorist, therefore keeping them as safe as possible. Sadly, this is not always the case. In fact, a distracted driver can turn a joy ride into a living nightmare in a split second.

Unfortunately, one man found this out the hard way when he was killed in a motorcycle accident in Los Feliz. Reports indicate the victim was traveling down the road when a BMW pulled out of a driveway in front of him. The motorcycle slammed into the car, and the rider was thrown from the bike. The victim was rushed to the hospital, but rescue efforts could not save him.

As can be seen by this instance, a failure to yield can cause a fatal motorcycle crash like this in the blink of an eye. The victim's family then must try to handle life without their loved one. Celebrating holidays, birthdays and weddings may never be the same for this family and they may also have financial worries. A family may have been dependent upon the deceased's wages, which are now gone, thus putting them in a tough financial spot when medical bills come due. These families need legal help obtaining the compensation that they need and deserve.

The victim's surviving family members may be able to bring a lawsuit against a negligent driver. To succeed in such a claim, the family must prove that the driver was negligent and that the negligence caused their loved one's death. In many motorcycle accident cases, showing an improper failure to yield may be enough to establish negligence. If a jury is convinced, then compensation may be available for medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering.

Motorcyclists deserve to be protected like any other motorist. Yet, all too often these bikers are unnecessarily harmed or killed. By filing a lawsuit against a negligent driver who caused a motorcycle accident, the victim and/or his family brings awareness to the issue so that, hopefully, motorcycle accidents will decrease in the future.
