Veterinary student fatally injured in hit-and-run car crash

Car accidents always have the possibility of ending with tragedy for one or more parties. However, fatal hit-and-run accidents are especially devastating.

A California man is dead after a tragic hit-and-run accident that occurred just a few miles from his place of employment and only a mile from his home. According to accident reports, the 24-year-old veterinary student was driving his car southbound shortly before 1:00 in the morning when he was struck by a pickup truck. The man was struck on the driver’s side of his vehicle. The impact of the car crash forced him to be thrown from his car.

The Los Angeles Police Department stated that the victim was found lying unconscious. He was suffering from broken bones and a head injury. He was transported to the hospital where it was later announced that the injuries he suffered as a result of the hit-and-run accident were fatal.

Witnesses of the accident told authorities that the individual driving the pickup truck along with potentially two passengers ran from the truck and fled the scene of the accident on foot. According to investigators the truck was not stolen, but they have kept the owner’s identity confidential at this time.

In some hit-and-run accidents, the surviving family of the fatally injured individual can recover compensation from the negligent driver. But the unknown identity of the negligent driver in this case is what makes it even more tragic than just the fatal nature of the collision.

Anyone that is suffering from losing a loved one in an accident would be well-served by contacting a personal injury attorney. An attorney can help the family understand whether they are entitled to compensation and, if so, the attorney may be able to work with the authorities and other appropriate parties to attempt to obtain this compensation.
