One dead after head-on motorcycle crash

The identity of a motorcyclist who was tragically killed in a recent fatal motorcycle crash has finally been determined. The 56-year-old man was killed in the motorcycle crash that occurred on a Friday morning when he was struck head-on by a passenger vehicle.

According to accident reports, the motorcyclist was driving down a Southern California road when a Honda Accord pulled into the lane in front of him. The vehicle was attempting to pass slower traffic in its lane and was therefore headed head-on toward the motorcyclist. The Accord unfortunately struck the motorcycle and the motorcycle accident victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Motorcycles and their passengers are not a fair match for passenger vehicles or the majority of other vehicles with which they share the roads day in and day out. The disparity in size, paired with the lack of protection for a motorcycle passenger, makes these types of accidents almost always catastrophic.

Given all of this information, it is very important that drivers watch for motorcycle drivers and yield the right of way to them when appropriate. If a motorcycle accident is caused by a negligent driver of another involved vehicle, that negligent party will likely be held liable to the injured party and, in the case of fatal injuries, to the victim's family or estate.

Motorcycle accident victims can recover compensation by filing a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit, depending upon the circumstances surrounding the accident. The type of recovery also varies by accident but the most common types of compensation that can be recovered include medical bills, death and funeral expenses, lost wages and potentially property damage.
