Discovery Channel settles helicopter crash lawsuit

Movie and TV actors occasionally appear to live a charmed life, immune from many of the risks and hazards that seem to afflict the rest of us. But, occasionally, reality intrudes into these lives too. Many people will remember the helicopter crash in Los Angeles in 1982 that killed TV star Vic Morrow and two children. Another fatal helicopter crash has again demonstrated that TV actors and crew are not immune from the mistakes of others.

Oxnard train-truck crash leads to examination of rail car safety

This blog has previously written about the collision between a truck and a Metrolink commuter train in Oxnard in February of this year. The exact cause of the train and truck crash has not been officially determined, but Metrolink officials are trying to determine whether a design defect in one of the cars may have contributed to the accident.

California's motorcycle helmet law

One of the first questions that is asked when a Californian hears about a motorcycle accident is "Was the driver wearing a helmet?" or "Was the passenger wearing a helmet?" In spite of such frequent response, people still ask whether a motorcycle driver or a motorcycle passenger is required to wear a safety helmet. The answer in both cases is a straightforward "Yes."

Recovering damages requires a skilled team

This blog has written frequently about truck, automobile and motorcycle accidents in the Los Angeles area in which the victims have died or suffered extremely serious injuries, such as loss of a limb, loss of vision or permanent disability. Under California law, a person who is at fault for such an accident must pay damages to the victims, but few persons who cause accidents (or their insurance companies) will voluntarily pay more than a small amount to the injured parties. The only way to obtain a full recovery for damages suffered in a truck, automobile or motorcycle accident is to commence legal action.
