Two die in head-on crash in Pico Rivera

Head-on collisions can be especially violent because the forces generated by the collision are completely absorbed by both vehicles. Such a force can be traumatic and even fatal to those traveling in the vehicles at the vehicle at the time of the crash. This fact was vividly demonstrated by a recent car accident in Pico Rivera that left two men dead and one severely injured.

According to recent reports, the head-on collision occurred on Paramount Boulevard near its intersection with Dunlap Crossing Road. A Cadillac traveling southbound on Paramount apparently crossed into the northbound lane and smashed directly head-on with a Honda going northbound. The force of the collision sent the Honda crashing into the curb, destroying both vehicles. Accident debris littered the street from curb to curb.

Authorities reported that both the driver and the passenger in the Honda were killed. The driver of the Cadillac, who was said to be in his early 20s, suffered injuries in the crash. Doctors who treated his injuries amputated one leg and were considering amputating the other leg. Police said that the case was under investigation, but several media outlets reported that the driver of the Cadillac had been arrested and that police were investigating the involvement of drugs or alcohol.

Investigation of the accident is not complete, but the preliminary report makes it appear that the driver of the Cadillac was likely at fault because his vehicle crossed into the oncoming traffic. When head-on collisions occur, it is often the case that a driver is negligent. Whether they are distracted, being reckless or intoxicated, such a condition could result in that driver being liable for any resulting damages, injuries or deaths.

Anyone who has been injured or lost a loved one in a head on collision should understand there are recourses available. A personal injury claim or a wrongful death suit could help injured victims or the loved ones of the deceased recover damages for medical expenses, lost income and pain and suffering.
