California police officer injured in motorcycle collision

All car accidents have the potential to end tragically. However, an accident that involves a motorcycle can be even more treacherous due to the small size of a motorcycle and the lack of protection provided to the riders. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, every 12 to 15 minutes a death is caused by a car, SUV, truck or motorcycle accident. In addition, roughly 2.5 million people sustain injuries in accidents, many of which are caused by careless and negligent drivers.

A California police officer who was riding a motorcycle recently became the victim of a motorcycle collision. The accident happened shortly before 7:00 AM in the morning. The motorcycle collided with a Volkswagen and the officer suffered injuries that required him to be airlifted to a medical facility.

Although the officer was not fatally injured, he still suffered from injuries that will most likely lead to costs for him in the form of medical bills and potentially lost wages as he spends time recovering from his injuries. The officer may be entitled to compensation to help him cover some of these expenses.

This particular accident is still under investigation. However, when a motorcycle collision is caused by a negligent party, they may have some liability to the other individuals involved in the accident if they suffered from any injuries. In the very unfortunate instance that there is a fatal injury, the family of the deceased may be able to recover compensation from the negligent party.

A thorough investigation of the facts, medical records, witnesses and impact on the injured individual’s life will help a motorcycle accident victim determine whether compensation for injury or loss is worth pursuing.
