When a criminal is involved in a car chase with the police, although not intentional, their behavior has the potential to result in injury to uninvolved, innocent parties. These injuries most often happen as a result of a car accident. A situation just like this unfolded recently in Moreno Valley, California after authorities tried to apprehend what they suspected to be a car thief.
Police started chasing the suspected thief around 9:00 PM in the evening. The chase continued for about 40 minutes until the suspect’s vehicle was eventually stopped. Unfortunately, it was stopped because the driver crashed into another vehicle. All of the details regarding the injuries that resulted from the crash have not been released. However, it is known that at least one individual that was in the other car was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment..
When someone becomes the victim of a car collision and suffers harm, they likely have to seek medical attention and therefore experience the sudden onset of unexpected financial obligations such as medical expenses. When this accident is caused by another person’s negligence, the injured part may be able to recover compensation from that negligent driver.
The compensation that can be recovered in a personal injury lawsuit depends upon the details of the situation in which the victim has been placed post-accident. It may include an amount of monetary damages to cover medical bills, lost wages and potentially property damage. Every car accident is different and therefore it is always important to seek the help of an experienced personal injury professional to determine whether the circumstances surrounding the car collision entitle the injured party to the recovery of benefits from another involved individual.
