The untimely death of a family member, no matter what the circumstances surrounding the fatality, is always difficult and emotionally draining for the surviving family members. However, when this death is untimely due to the negligence of another individual, the situation can also be very angering and frustrating for the deceased’s loved ones. In these situations, when death occurs due to another’s lack of care, the family can often recover compensation by filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
In Pasadena, two individuals are being held responsible for causing a fatal accident. The accident occurred on Christmas day. Police were attempting to pull over a Dodge Durango for a traffic violation. The driver failed to stop and ran a red light.
This driver’s choice to flee from police and run the red light caused the Durango to strike a minivan carrying a family that was returning from an ice skating outing. Two of the four people in the minivan suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident.
No amount of money can compensate someone for the loss of a loved one in a fatal car crash. However, it can help them to recover from the unexpected financial impact that was brought on by the other party’s negligence. The compensation recovered in a wrongful death lawsuit can help to pay for medical expenses, funeral expenses, loss of support and loss of companionship.
Losing a family member is a very difficult event for all involved. Seeking out the appropriate assistance to help recover the compensation to which the family is entitled may not ease the emotional hardship but it will help to ease the financial hardship.
