With the summer in full swing, many people are planning vacations with their loved ones. Sometimes people will fly to their holiday destinations while others choose to drive. It is probably less common but some people will head out to a vacation spot by motorcycle. This is exactly what a man, his sister and his nephew were doing when the trip suddenly turned tragic as a result of a motorcycle accident.
The accident occurred on a California roadway shortly before noon. A truck turned left onto a road directly in front of the motorcyclist. The turn was too close and the motorcyclist had to lay his bike down. Unfortunately he was struck head on by another vehicle.
Medics responded to the scene where the motorcyclist was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck that turned onto the road and initially caused the accident did not remain at the scene. However, the vehicle was caught on surveillance. Police are in search of the truck and it’s driver as they are attempting to gather more information about the accident.
Motorcycle accidents have the propensity to cause catastrophic injuries, as was the case here. The victim in this case unfortunately ended up suffering fatal injuries but, even if the injuries are not fatal, motorcycle accident victims could very likely end up with a permanent disability.
The case in question here is still under investigation by authorities. But, in the case of any motorcycle accident, if it is determined that the victim suffered their injuries due to the negligence of another party involved in the accident then that injured individual may be entitled to compensation by filing a personal injury lawsuit. In this case, if it is determined that one of the other motorists was at fault, the surviving loved ones of the fatally injured motorcyclist may be able to recover damages by filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
