As previous posts have discussed, motorcycles are no match for the other vehicles with which they share the roadways. As a result, passengers on motorcycles are usually the most severely injured after the occurrence of a motorcycle accident. Therefore, these accidents can be particularly tragic causing catastrophic injuries. However, a fatal motorcycle crash that recently occurred in California had a particularly tragic outcome due to the age of one of the passengers.
This accident did not just result in catastrophic injuries but also the death of a four-year-old girl. The young girl was riding on the back of the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was traveling down the road following an 18-wheeler. The big rig suddenly and unexpectedly made a U turn in front of the motorcycle, which caused the initial collision.
The motorcycle became lodged underneath the truck but, unfortunately, the driver of the big rig did not realize there had even been a collision. Therefore, the driver continued to drive forward and back as he attempted to correct the turn he was attempting to make.
Once bystanders were able to get the truck driver to stop, someone ran over to the young girl and checked for her pulse. Unfortunately, she had already succumbed to her fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Situations such as this one have a tragic impact on the family of the injured individual. The good news, if there is any in such an unfortunate time, is that the motorcycle accident victim and their family may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit and recover compensation to help them deal with this hardship. There are experienced attorneys that are able to help families through these tough times. Although nothing will bring back a lost loved one, compensation can help to recover from financial commitments that arise as a result of the accident.
