A recent multi-vehicle car crash on the 405 Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass has left one man dead and two others injured.
The accident was actually a series of incidents that started at approximately 6:30 in the morning with a single-vehicle accident in the southbound lanes that left a car in flames. After the initial accident, the driver of a Ford Fusion on the northbound side of the freeway stopped to help the driver of the burning vehicle. In order to avoid hitting the Fusion a truck stopped, and a Ford Mustang then crashed into the truck and a Mercedes in turn crashed into the Mustang.
The driver of the Mustang, a 65-year-old man, was fatally injured in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.
If investigation determines that this crash was caused by a negligent driver, liability may fall on that driver and their insurer to pay the injured parties, or the surviving loved ones of those who were killed, monetary compensation. Those who were injured can recover damages for their injuries, including their pain and suffering. The survivors of those who died can recover damages that include loss of support and loss of consortium.
