As residents of the state are most likely aware, California’s roadways are very busy. Sometimes, irritation with traffic and fear of tardiness can lead to reckless, dangerous driving. One aspect of this type of driving is failing to double-check for nearby motorcycles. Unfortunately, this can lead to a serious accident.
One such motorcycle crash recently occurred in California when a passenger vehicle was attempting to make a lane change. According to the California Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was struck when the man driving the passenger vehicle attempted to move from the left lane into the carpool lane.. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital and treated for the moderate injuries he suffered as a result of the accident. Neither party was arrested, but the accident remains under investigation.
When a motorcycle accident causes an injury, one or more of the involved drivers may be liable for the medical bills and other expenses others suffer as a result of the accident. To impose liability, an injured individual must show one or more negligent drivers. If it can be proven the actions of these negligent drivers led to the victim’s, then compensation may be recoverable.
Those residents of California who have been injured in an accident may feel like they are entitled to compensation, but may not know how to go about recovering it. That is where a personal injury attorney can be very helpful. An experienced attorney will be able to speak with the injured party and their family and help them understand whether they may be able to recover compensation. If they can, the attorney may assist them in the process, fighting to ensure damages are recovered in full and in a timely manner.
