Parents file wrongful death lawsuit after son is fatally injured

Residents of California may be familiar with police chases that happen on the roadways of the state. However, what they may not be aware of is that, sometimes, innocent bystanders are injured during these incidents. Last year, a 33-year-old California man was fatally injured when he was struck while walking through a crosswalk. The vehicle that struck him was fleeing from police.

The man’s parents have now filed a wrongful death lawsuit. The city of Santa Ana, the California Highway Patrol, Orange County and the three individuals that were being sought by authorities are all named as defendants in the lawsuit. The man driving the vehicle that struck the 33-year-old pedestrian had documented affiliations with gang activity and was considered a gang member. The lawsuit that arose as a result of the fatal accident is seeking damages of an unspecified amount.

When family members suffer the loss of a loved one unexpectedly and due to the negligence of another individual, they may be entitled to compensation. That potential recovery for compensation is the very reason this family has filed a lawsuit. Those that file a civil lawsuit for wrongful death may be able to recover monetary compensation for things, such as medical bills, death expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering.

Loved ones that have lost a family member likely feel very overwhelmed with numerous emotions, including sadness, anger and confusion. These emotions may make it feel like taking on a lawsuit is unmanageable. Nonetheless, it is important to pursue all liable parties, and hold them accountable for their wrongdoing.

There are experienced personal injury attorneys in California that are able to help ensure that this happens and the family recovers compensation in a timely manner. These monetary awards can help families move forward with the emotional healing process.
