California Motorcycle accident kills one and injures two

On Behalf of | May 29, 2014 | Motorcycle Accidents

When an accident occurs in California and a motorcyclist is involved the outcome is often deadly for the motorcyclist. The cause of motorcycle accidents is often negligence on the part of the other driver and not the motorcyclist. Drivers often do not pay attention to other vehicles with which they are sharing the roadways, especially if they are as small as a motorcycle.

Recently, a deadly motorcycle accident occurred in Northern California. The crash occurred shortly after 3:00 in the afternoon in Carmichael, California. According to a news report, two motorcyclists, a 46-year-old man and a 37-year-old man, were riding down a road at the time of the crash. Police claim the two motorcyclists were racing when a Ford Taurus merged in front of them. Although the motorcyclists apparently tried braking when they saw the car, it was too late.

The motorcycle collision happened when the 46-year-old motorcyclist crashed into the driver’s side door of the Taurus. He was killed upon impact with the vehicle. The other motorcyclist threw himself from his bike and slid across the road, suffering serious injuries. The driver of the car was also injured and was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries, which are considered major.

In fatal motorcycle crash like this investigators will likely seek to determine whether the motorcyclists were going too fast for the Taurus driver to see them in time, or whether the Taurus driver failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to yield the right of way when she pulled out in front of the motorcyclists.
