The roadways of California are often incredibly busy and packed with cars of all sizes. Some are traveling for business while others are traveling for leisure. With this many cars on the road it is important that all drivers are being careful and doing everything they can to practice the necessary amount of care. When drivers do not do this, the results can be tragic.
When one or more drivers are not as careful as they should be while operating their vehicles it can often result in an injurious or fatal car crash. A recent car accident that occurred in California ended in the worst form of tragedy when all five members of a family that were traveling in one of the vehicles were fatally injured.
The accident occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. The five-person family was on their way to Disneyland in their Honda sedan. The sedan was waiting at an intersection when it was struck by a van. After the initial collision the van landed on top of the Honda. The impact killed both of the parents and all three of their children, ranging in age from two to nine years old.
This accident is one of the most unfortunate forms of tragedy. It is always sad and incomprehensible to see an entire family killed by another driver. The driver of the other vehicle only suffered minor injuries. He was traveling alone in his vehicle when he drifted into the wrong lane which is what led to the accident. In this case, it is not yet known what exactly caused the van’s driver to cross lanes, but often it is a drowsy or distracted driver whose car shifts in such a manner.
Although fault has not yet been placed in this accident, there is almost always an accident investigation following such a tragedy. If this investigation determines that there was a negligent driver then that negligent party may be liable to the injured parties, or their surviving loved ones, in a personal injury lawsuit.
