Auto accident leads to conflicting claims about green light

On Behalf of | Dec 17, 2015 | Car Accidents

The recollections of persons involved in auto accidents are not always reliable. The accident usually happens without much warning, and the events of the accident happen in swift succession, taking up little more than a few seconds. A recent car accident in south central Los Angeles provides unusually vivid proof of how recollections may differ.

The crash occurred at about 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of East Adams Boulevard and Griffith Avenue. Five people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. Police officers at the scene concluded that one of the vehicles ran a red light, but they were uncertain as to which of the drivers missed the light.

The investigation was not aided by the recollections of the two drivers. Each insisted that he had a green light just before the cars collided. Police are still interviewing witnesses and have issued a request for additional information about the collision. Neither alcohol nor drugs was a factor in the accident.

This blog repeated reminds its readers that a consultation with an attorney who specializes in auto accident cases can be useful for several reasons. In cases such as this, a knowledgeable attorney can be especially helpful. The lawyer will have access to accident reconstruction experts who can analyze the sequence of events by making careful measurements, taking photographs of the accident scene and assessing the impact damage suffered by each vehicle. Such evidence can be used to determine which driver was at fault. An experienced attorney can also provide a helpful evaluation of the facts of the case and an estimate of the likelihood of recovering damages for medical expenses, lost income and pain and suffering from the responsible party.
