Truck accident kills 2 women and 4 children

Victims of truck accidents, and their families, have legal options to consider that can provide help during a difficult time. A fiery truck accident in the Los Angeles area recently claimed the lives of two women and four children. The two mothers and their four children were killed when a semi-truck struck the minivan they were traveling in after it was involved in an earlier minor car accident. The minivan was resting partially in the right-hand lane following the earlier minor accident when a semi-truck hit it from behind traveling approximately 55 miles per hour. The impact of the semi-truck striking the minivan sent it off the road and down an embankment. The minivan quickly caught fire after traveling down the embankment.

The two fathers of the children, who were in the driver’s seat and front passenger-side seat of the minivan, attempted to save their wives and the four children. The 34 and 45-year old men suffered burns attempting to save their wives and children. According to authorities, by the time the two men were able to open the sliding door of the minivan that was initially stuck the flames from the fire were overtaking the minivan. The two men were flown to a local hospital and listed in serious condition following the accident. Police also reported that the accident was under investigation.

Truck accidents can cause catastrophic injuries and death and can be traumatic for truck accident victims and their families. While trying to cope with the loss of a loved one following a truck accident, family members may suffer from injuries themselves as well as suffer financial and emotional damages that can include unpaid medical bills, funeral expenses, the loss of support and services and pain and suffering damages. Damages victims and their families suffer may be recoverable through personal injury and wrongful death legal options.

A truck accident can create unexpected harm in the lives of victims and surviving family members that may last well into the future. As a result, families should be familiar with legal options available to help them recover compensation for damages when they have been injured by a negligent truck driver.
