Three truck accidents occur in one morning on 210 Freeway

Driving a loaded semi-truck in Los Angeles can be a risky endeavor, and necessitates careful skill and handling. After all, a collision involving a vehicle weighing tens of thousands of pounds can potentially be catastrophic. Semi-truck drivers must understand their vehicles acceleration and deceleration capabilities, as well as its turning radius and blind spots. The failure to drive responsibly could lead to an accident that injures another person on the road.

A series of three truck accidents caused the east Foothill (210) Freeway to be closed down for a period of time on the morning of April 2. Wet roadways and speed appear to have been factors in the crashes. The second and more serious of the accidents occurred between a semi-truck and a sedan. Two people were injured in that crash. The first accident had occurred when the driver of a semi-truck lost control, collided with the center barrier and then jack-knifed at the 134 Freeway. The final crash involved two big-rigs, but no other details have been reported.

When a person is injured in a semi-truck accident, they may wonder who can be held liable for the injuries they suffered. When it comes to truck accidents, through a concept known as respondeat superior, it is possible in some circumstances to hold both the truck driver and the truck company responsible in an accident. In general, this may be the case if the truck driver was an employee of the truck company and if the accident occurred when the truck driver was performing their work duties.

When it comes to truck accidents, there can never be such a thing as too much care. By keeping their vehicles’ limitations in mind, along with the current road and weather conditions, semi-truck drivers may be able to avoid causing an accident.
