Many of our Los Angeles readers have probably heard the reports about a horrific incident that occurred recently in nearby Fullerton, in which a man driving a pickup truck jumped a curb in the vehicle and slammed into several pedestrians who were in a crowd along the street. The incident occurred on the evening of February 9.
According to the reports, the 22-year-old man who was driving the pickup truck was subsequently arrested on drunk driving charges. Now, it appears that the primary goal of the investigation of the incident is to determine whether or not the man drove his pickup truck into the crowd intentionally. Apparently, several of the people in the crowd knew the driver of the pickup truck from high school. If he did drive his vehicle into the crowd intentionally, he will likely be facing much more serious charges than DUI charges.
One witness to this incident described how a friend of hers suffered severe facial injuries from being hit by the pickup truck and getting pinned under it. This victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and will reportedly require reconstructive surgery on her facial injuries. Another woman was reportedly “side-swiped” by the pickup truck and suffered torn ligaments in her leg.
The investigation into this bizarre incident will likely be ongoing for weeks, but the injured victims will be focused on their physical health in the meantime. Those injured victims may be thinking about their personal injury law options in the meantime as well, in order to possibly attempt to secure financial compensation from the alleged drunk driver.
