The difference in the size of vehicles involved in a car accident is oftentimes a determining factor as to which individuals in which vehicles suffer injuries. A larger vehicle will usually provide more protection than a smaller vehicle.
That seems to have been the case in a recent car collision in Los Angeles, in which a large pickup truck struck a small Nissan Altima.
According to reports, the collision occurred in the very early morning hours, near 4 a.m., on Interstate 10. The reports indicate that the Nissan Altima was apparently stalled in the middle of the road when the large pickup truck slammed into it. The driver of the pickup truck was injured in the collision, but his injuries were reportedly minor.
The three individuals in the small Nissan Altima were not as lucky. The driver of the Nissan reportedly suffered major injuries and was transported for medical treatment. The two passengers who were riding in the backseat of the Nissan died in the collision.
Photos of the stretch of road where the accident occurred showed a chaotic scene. The pickup truck was rolled onto its side, while the entire back half of the Nissan was smashed. The next step is for a thorough investigation into how this accident occurred and which party should be held responsible.
Anyone who has been injured in a car accident or who has lost a loved one in such an incident may have legal options to attempt to pursue financial compensation. The unexpected medical expenses and other losses that come up in the aftermath of a car accident can be overwhelmingly burdensome.
